Review of One Year in Network Marketing

Nothing changes if Nothing changes

In honor of my one year anniversary with network marketing, here is a review of this industry in a nut shell…it is what YOU make it.

Women ages 18 and up are joining online marketing companies, starting blogs, posting positive quotes and listening to self-development.  If you are tuned into any of this you may think it’s ridiculous or inspirational.  For me it has been a year of change.

It all started in early 2018 when I just wanted to find a hobby, something I loved to do outside of my “day to day” life.  The problem was, I didn’t know what I liked. How can you find a hobby when you don’t like anything?  Watching my husband go off with his friends to paraglide on weekends never made me jealous, but his adventures made me want more for myself.

As a young girl I wanted to be a journalist.  I could imagine being on the scene of a breaking news story and writing about it for all to read.  I’m not sure when that dream changed but what I do know is that I love to tell stories and write still.

March 2018 I started to explore blogging and network marketing. I read both negative and positive aspects of the business. A few things stood out to me. First, we are in a digital era with the internet growing daily. Next, we are in the midst of a population boom. Whatever you start online now could very possibly become something big in 10, 15, 20 years. With retirement in 17 years, this sounded like a great opportunity for the long term. After talking with a couple friends in the industry I took the plunge and bought a starter kit for $168 with LimeLife by Alcone, a company that sold natural skincare and professional makeup. I used and loved the products already and knew others would love them too. Boom! I started my own business just like that.

It was hard.

The first month I created a website, watched live trainings, joined many groups, did everything I was told and did a ton of reading and studying.  I created a lot of unnecessary work for myself…INFORMATION OVERLOAD, but I did this to myself because that’s my personality, if I say I am going to do something, I give it 200%.

By the third month it started to fall into place.  I loved the women I worked with because they were like me; they thrived on challenges and wanted more.  I loved the audible books and podcasts I was listening to because they were pushing me to be the best version of me.  I loved the money that was coming in because I was able to deposit it into a “college fund” for my teenage daughter.  What I didn’t love was the fact that I was consumed with my business and my house was suffering, man was it messy. To find time to work this business you have to sacrifice some things.  Any business will take time to build.

By the 6th month I had a few women join with me and I LOVED helping them build more for themselves, but this was tougher than I had thought it would be. Anyone that joined network marketing had to want it with an internal fire, be positive, open to personal development and ready to work for success. I knew I wanted to take others along for the ride with me but from experience I knew they needed to have the drive like me to succeed.

By the 9th month I was feeling like I needed to expand something.  Doing live videos and posting on Facebook to sell my products had become my only networking.  I hadn’t updated my website or written any blogs in months and I realized I missed that.  So I switched gears and started to update my website and wrote a few blogs.  I started to build a following of people who were inspired by my healthy meal planning and workouts, all while having a fulltime job, being a mom and wife.

Here I am on my one year anniversary, 12 months in. I average $350 a month, sometimes more, and have 42 customers. I have learned how to plan out my month to make it less daily work and I am finding my brand working with women FortyandYonder who want to live a healthy lifestyle. I have grown personally to levels I never imagined simply by surrounding myself with women that are like me, listening to books on self-development and having the fire within my soul for more. I continue to let go of the negative pieces in my life and have learned to make time for me. I am a better women, a better mom and a better wife. I cannot wait to see what year two brings me.

If you feel the fire to do more and have contemplated online marketing, message me and I will give you nothing but the truth about the industry.  It is important to find a company that suits you, not all network marketing companies are equal.  We are in the Digital Era so if you have the desire, now is the time to explore it.
